The Fish Inn on Ashby Market Street has announced they will be closing after eight years of trading. 

The Fish Inn is the highest rated Fish and Chip Shop according to TripAdviser, with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5. 

In a statement published on the fish and chip shop's social media, owners MO and Jimmy said: 'To all our customers and friends of Ashby, we would like to say a very big thank you for your massive support over the last 8 years that we have been here.

'We have met a bunch of brilliant people, we had very crazy fun and cheerful days with you guys but unfortunately our journey has come to an end for Ashby. 

'Myself and Jimmy will stop trading at the Fish Inn by the end of the month to start a new journey in life. 

'So, we would like to say thank you all very much and really appreciate once again. It's very sad news for us because Ashby has been a blast.' 

The Facebook post where they announced the news had an outpouring love for the popular fish and chip spot, with regulars commenting how much they will miss it. 

One user commented: 'You will be missed! Best kebab and chips around. You will smash the next chapter guys.' 

Another said: 'I'll miss seeing yours and Jimmy's smiley faces. All the best with your next venture, you're going to be missed by the whole of Ashby!'
