Ivanhoe College students supported two local charities by staging a Christmas in reverse campaign last month.

In the run up to the festive season, Ivanhoe College House Leaders decided they wanted to run a charity campaign and came up with the plan of a 'Reverse Advent Calendar'.

The idea is that you give a gift or treat across the 'Ivanhoe 12 days of giving' rather than receive one.

The two chosen charities were Rainbows Children's Hospice and One Roof Homeless Shelter.

Each form group arranged their own collections and then all of the donations were sorted and delivered at the end of term.

A College spokeswoman said: "The quantity and quality of donations were staggering, and the charities were very grateful for everything collected.

"Parents were very supportive of the initiative.

"This will definitely be a fundraiser we'll be adding to our calendar."
