Ashby's Hays Travel Confirms It Has Survived Company's Closure Plan

Hays Travel in Ashby is to stay open despite the company announcing a series of closures nationwide.

The UK's largest travel agency is shutting 89 shops as it consolidates amid the continued pressures of Covid-19.

Hays says it is offering options for alternative work to 388 staff who will lose their jobs.

The Coalville branch of Hays Travel will close - but its Market Street site in Ashby will be unaffected.

Hays Ashby posted on its Facebook page to confirm and said: "In light of the announcement yesterday we want to reassure all our regular and new customers that this store is remaining open.

"Philippa and Emma are continuing to work from home and are ready to help with any holidays plans or questions you have.

"We have some fabulous offers for 2021 right through to 2023, so please let us help you find your perfect break or keep checking out our Facebook page where we post a wide range of great offers.

"We can't wait to get back into the store to see you all soon, stay safe."

The company said it had deferred reviewing the performance of the former Thomas Cook shops it acquired in October 2019 to see if business returned in 2021.

Hays Travel said the third national lockdown and travel ban, leading to major holiday operators suspending flights and holidays, meant it had to act.
