An Ashby woman is staging a fundraiser to pay for cancer treatment for her dog.

Debra Ann wants to raise £5,000 so that her bulldog Prince can get the attention he needs.

Prince has cancer in his ankle and Debra has so far raised just over £1,600.

Debra explains on her Just Giving page: "Prince had cruciate ligament surgery on the 10th December, 2020.

Unfortunately eight weeks later he was still not bearing weight so we got a referral to a specialist on the 8th February 2021 at willows hospital in Birmingham.

"After having a CT scan and many tests the worst news possible is that he has cancer in his ankle.

"We have now used nearly all the £7,500 insurance money, so we need some help for his fight against cancer.

"The cancer specialist will be ringing us back In a few days with a name for the cancer/type and and will go from there.

"I will soon add all paperwork from insurance, vets bills, and his diagnosis as we want to remain completely transparent with everyone."

She added on Tuesday: "Good news is the surgeon rang and is very pleased so far.

"He's had him walking this morning on his three legs and did very well and the good news he is coming home tomorrow

"Only negative news is he won't eat, so they will tempt Prince with a variety of food today and will be weaned off low-dose sedatives to try help him eat.

"The specialist thinks he will do even better when back home."

You can donate towards Prince's treatment HERE.
