Ashby School has set up a food pantry service for families of students in response to the cost of living crisis.
The pantry, which is being run with support from the MCKS charitable foundation, is now running every Tuesday during term time.
Deputy Headteacher Vikki Rundle-Brown told the school's website: "Like many people across the country, the families of students at Ashby School are feeling the effects of rising energy bills and food prices.
"In response to this, we have set up a weekly food pantry service to help those who need it to get access to food and other essential items."
Food, toiletries and sanitary products are available for collection every Tuesday from 2 – 4pm during term time from the pantry at Range Road, which can be found in the semi-detached house opposite the gates.
The school adds that opening times during school holidays will vary.
Ashby Nub News has been told that there is no criteria as to who can claim items and it is run on a confidential basis.
Families can simply email the school to let them know they are coming to collect - they can then bring a bag to fill up their pantry.
Anyone needing access to this support, can email Mrs. Lane at [email protected]
MCKS says: "Our charity provides schools across the country with food, toiletries and sanitary products so that children have consistent access to essential supplies through our School Pantry Cupboards.
"We also run breakfast clubs and provide emergency supplies over schools holidays and during exam times for children and families who may be struggling.
"MCKS Charitable Foundation UK partners with schools to provide school pantries and support these on a regular and permanent basis."
