The three Rotary Clubs of Ashby de la Zouch have named the chosen charities that will benefit from last month's Santa Sleigh visits in the area.

This year's are, Chiltern Music Therapy, Staunton Harold Sailability and Bright Hope.

The clubs have toured the areas in Ashby and South Derbyshire, for more than 50 years, with their Santa Sleigh spreading a little happiness.

A Rotary Club spokesman said: "The public have also donated with unbelievable generosity to our Christmas appeal for local Charities.

"This year has been no exception despite the frequently wet weather, and we want to say a very sincere thank you.

"We will publish the amounts and photos in early February after our presentation evening. We would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped with our collections because without these, it would not have been possible to bring Santa to the community.

"Also, we would like to thank all the staff from Nat West especially the coin counting machine."

If you are interested in helping Rotary or even considering joining as a member - it is open to all - to enjoy fellowship and interesting activities, please contact one of the Secretaries; Debbie Hamilton (Breakfast Club) 07971047283, Gerry Barwood (Lunchtime Club) 01455 290729 or Paul Bertenshaw (Evening Club) 07905 848981.
