The Aquabox, ShelterBox and Steps charities have all received donations from events organised by members of Ashby Rotary Club.
Money was raised at a garden party at the home of Rotarian Richard and Mrs Jenny Davies - and at a tea party organised by Rotarian Maurice and Mrs Isabel Stanley at their farm.
A total of £1250 has been donated to Aquabox to buy 110 boxes.
Aquabox provides safe drinking water and humanitarian aid to people affected by natural disasters, extreme weather and conflicts. In the aftermath of a disaster, access to clean drinking water is often one of the first priorities. Following closely is the need for shelter.
The Aqua-Aid box contains a family water filter for instant clean drinking water and over 40 items to help a family group with daily needs.
A further £700 was raised by money donated in lieu of presents to Rotarian John Sedgley at his 80th birthday party - £600 of this has been sent to ShelterBox and £100 to local children's charity Steps.
ShelterBox provides shelter, essential items and technical assistance to help some of the world's most vulnerable people recover and rebuild their homes after disaster. They listen and adapt their support to the needs of each community, working together with those affected by disaster, alongside their supporters and partners.
Steps Conductive Education Centre is a specialist Early Years Setting supporting families with children who have motor impairments or other conditions that affect the acquisition of motor skills.
Ashby Rotary Club has supported all three of these charities over many years, often from their beginning, through monetary donations and volunteering. Both Aquabox and ShelterBox have close connections to Rotary throughout the world.
