Ashby police make drugs discovery worth over £5,000 as patrols are stepped up to combat concerns
Ashby Police have uncovered a cocaine worth more than £5,000 from a vehicle following increased patrols in the town.
The capture has been revealed in the latest Neighbourhood Link newsletter which updates residents on issues raised with officers.
Concerns over drugs misuse in the Pithiviers Close area has seen police focus attention on the problem.
As a result, the Ashby Beat Team says it has had an effect.
That includes the seizure of a 'prestige vehicle' containing over £5,000 worth of cocaine - although more details have yet to be revealed.
The police update reports: "You had concerns over drug misuse in the Pithiviers Close area.
"We have increased patrols in the designated area with a view to reducing this activity.
"Patrols are conducted at varying times in both marked and plain vehicles, so intelligence gathering capability is not negatively impacted.
"The Beat Team have seized a prestige vehicle containing £5,000+ of cocaine.
"We have added additional patrol locations based on topical intelligence from members of the public - we are now patrolling nine additional locations.
"Local residents are continuing to report reduced activity at locations.
"In excess of 40 Drug Patrols have been conducted during the priority period.
"Ten intel submissions have been made by officers both from patrol data and residents' reports."
