Ashby police conduct 'knife sweeps' in the town's parks as part of national week of action

Ashby Police conducted knife sweeps in the town's parks today (Wednesday).

Officers were visible in Western Park, the Bath Grounds and Hood Park.

And they reported that no knives were found on any individuals following searches.

The police issued their findings on the Neighbourhood Link network.

It said: "Leicestershire Police are supporting the national week of action, education and awareness-raising to tackle knife crime and violence.

"This operation is about education and enforcement and is designed to educate young people about the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife, target those who carry weapons and disrupt the sale and supply of knives.

"As part of this initiative the Ashby Beat Team conducted knife sweeps in Ashby de la Zouch parks today.

"Locations visited included Western Park , Hood Park and Bath Grounds. 

"It will be reassuring to know that no knives were recovered."
