One Ashby pharmacy is set to open on New Year's Day to allow people to collect prescriptions and buy over the counter medicines.

The holidays are a time of joy, but with elevated levels of flu, Covid and other illnesses flying around, people may find themselves in need of medicines.

Fortunately, a number of pharmacies are set to be open across the county on the Bank Holiday so you can buy what you need.

Each district and borough, all have designated stores open.

However, residents should still plan ahead when it comes to repeat prescriptions and any over-the-counter medicines expected to be needed as New Year is a busy time across health services.

Failure to do so could put strain on the NHS system – and people will risk not being able to get what they need.
