The return of Ashby Open Gardens this month raised just under £3,000 for the organisers' two chosen charities.

It was an event that had to be cancelled for the past two years due to Covid restrictions.

But it came back and - despite some unsettled weather - attracted good crowds.

A social media post on the Ashby Open Gardens Facebook page says the event had been a success.

It reads: "The totals are in.

"We had around 400 paying visitors (and many came round on both days).

"We raised a total of £2800 split between Hospice Hope and The Air Ambulance Service

"Well done to everyone for the hard work put in, and also to our amazing visitors. Your kind words keep us going.

"Huge thanks as usual to our helpers at La Zouch Restaurant , North's Deli - Ashby and Ashby Toolbox .

"See you next year - 1st and 2nd July.
