Ashby Museum is holding a town walk next week - focusing on the story of Ivanhoe Baths and Ashby's Spa.
It will begin at the museum in North Street at 6.30pm on Wednesday, August 10, and takes around an hour.
The museum explains that, in 1822, the Ivanhoe Baths were opened – it transformed the shape and appearance of Ashby.
Cost is £5 and you can sign in at the Museum.
There is also an exhibition at the Museum until Saturday, September 24.
The Baths were in the town until 1962 and the Museum describes it as a brave attempt to challenge the larger, successful centres such as Buxton, Cheltenham and Leamington.
Although the Baths are no longer here, much remains to remind us of those days – Georgian terraces and a railway station building.
The Museum also has a collection of documents, books, pictures and artefacts relating to the venture which will be on display.
The museum opening hours are:
Monday - 11.00 - 16.00
Tuesday - 11.00 - 16.00
Wednesday - 11.00 - 13.30
Thursday - Closed
Friday - 11.00 - 16.00
Saturday - 10.00 - 12.30
Sunday - Closed
Telephone: 01530 560090.
