Ashby MP Andrew Bridgen has sent out his annual Christmas card - with his name spelt wrongly inside.

A number of users on the X social media platform - formerly known as Twitter - have pointed out the error.

When the Card from the former Conservative MP is opened, it says: 'Happy Christmas, from Andrew Brigden".

Ex-BBC Radio Leicester football commentator Ian Stringer, now with TalkSport, highlighted the mistake on social media, with a picture of the card.

He posted: "A lovely Christmas card from a local politician. A tree, a star……himself, obviously.

"Shame he spelt his own name wrong. Whoops. Merry Christmas Andrew Bridgen/Brigden."

Mr Bridgen is understood to be "not happy" about the error.

He told The Express website: "I looked at the first draft and corrected it but someone published the wrong version anyway.

"There's been a big mistake somewhere."

It is has been a memorable year for the MP for North West Leicestershire.

In April, he was thrown out of the Conservative Party for his comments about the UK's Covid vaccine rollout, and backing it up with comments likening it to the Holocaust.

He then joined Laurence Fox's Reclaim Party, but resisted calls for a by-election in his constituency.

Mr Bridgen has since used his profile to argue against the continued use of Covid vaccines in the UK.

He has made it clear he intends to stand at the next General Election and defend his seat as a Reclaim Party candidate.
