An Ashby man has been arrested after two men were stabbed close to a supermarket in Coalville earlier this week.

Police were called to Long Lane shortly after 8.30am on Monday (June 13) following a report that two men in their 20s were seriously injured.

Both were taken to hospital. One man has since been discharged - but the other remains in a serious but stable condition.

Leicestershire Police said today (Friday) that, following further enquiries, a 29-year-old man from Ashby was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

He has since been released on bail.

Detectives investigating the incident are continuing to appeal for information about the incident which took place close to the Spar store in Broom Leys Road.

Detective Inspector Rob Arthur, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT) said: "While one man has been arrested, we are continuing to appeal for information to establish what happened on Monday night.

"I believe there are people who will have witnessed the incident but have not yet spoken to police.

"It's not too late to come forward and if you think you can help, please get in touch.

"I'm particularly keen to speak to any motorists who were in the area of Long Lane and Broom Leys Road and have a dashcam in their vehicle."
