Ashby Lido is to be given a relaunch this Spring.
Work has been carried out on the popular Ashby swimming pool - the only Lido in Leicestershire - since the turn of the year.
The Lido - and the Hood Park Leisure Centre - is owned by the Everyone Active company who are due to release full details of the development soon.
But Ashby de la Zouch Town Council's Events & Entertainment Committee was given a preview of the relaunch of the 1930s pool at its meeting earlier this month.
And early indications suggest Everyone Active want to introduce a 'seaside experience' element to the Lido with the introduction of a children's sandpit.
The pool was drained, scrubbed and jet washed between January and February.
Then, building works and the installation of a sand pit took place.
Painting and decorating, and the installation of disabled access has gone ahead since.
The Lido owners hope to launch the new-look pool in May.
Everyone Active describes the Lido like this on its website: "Hood Park Leisure Centre features the only lido in Leicestershire.
"Unfortunately, due to the effect of COVID-19, the outdoor pool was not open for the 2020 season. The pool will re-open in May 2021.
"Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.
"This fantastic facility is the perfect place to while away the summer months. Whether you want to enjoy the cooling water or relax by the poolside, it's ideal for everyone, especially children and families."
However, the Town Council committee felt that not enough was made of the fact that the Lido dates back 90 years and has an Art Deco design.
North West Leicestershire District Council made a video of the pool in 2018 which you can see above.
