Stourport Swifts 3 Ashby Ivanhoe 1

Ashby Ivanhoe's FA Vase journey ended at the Round of 32 stage as Stourport fought from behind to progress.

The match started dramatically as both sides could have led inside the opening two minutes. Sam Grouse raced through on goal only to blaze over, and moments later the hosts came close as a shot from the right curled just past the post.

Much of the opening half hour saw Stourport putting pressure on Ivanhoe's goal.

Ashby maintained a threat on the counter attack though and took the lead on 35 minutes as Stourport's high line was exposed.

Racing down the right, Chris Acott was able to find Grouse with a ball across the edge of the box. His strike partner's right footed drive was too hot for the goalkeeper to handle and found its way into the net at the near post.

The game continued in a similar vein following the opener, with Sam Taylor forced into an excellent stop down to his right moments after the restart.

Stourport's pressure paid off though and they found themselves level with virtually the final kick of the half. A cross from the right was not dealt with by Ashby and ricochet in off Jake Conkay at the back post to send the teams in all square.

Ashby's misery was compiled just seven minutes into the second half when Martin Slevin curled a cross turned shot towards the back post, looping over Taylor and nestling into the far corner, sending an army of visiting Dutch home supporters wild behind the goal.

Stourport's aggressive approach was altered after the goal as Ashby looked to pull themselves back into the match.

Their best chance to get back in the game saw Ryan Pratt thwart Grouse one on one, however going away from goal at a slightly awkward angle, it was always a tough chance for Ivanhoe's top scorer.

Stourport were able to seal a place in the last 16 in added time as Taylor brought down their forward who did well to chase down a back pass and beat Ashby's goalkeeper to the ball.

Taylor got hands to Drew Canavan's spot kick, however he was only able to turn the ball into the net via the left-hand post.

Before full time, the referee showed two red cards, one of which to Conkay and the other to substitute James Harrison, as tempers flared late in added time.

Attention turns back to league action next time out as Ivanhoe travel to Lincolnshire for the second time in three weeks as they face Sleaford Town for the first time this season.
