Ashby Ivanhoe 3 Hinckley AFC 1
Ashby's attacking players delivered on a night which saw Andy Gray's side cruise into the Leicestershire Senior Cup Quarter Finals.
The forward line was led by Will Groocock and George Teeney for first time, as top scorer Sam Grouse was rested by Gray.
Both players proved integral in Ivanhoe's victory, Groocock winning a penalty five minutes before the break after a foul by goalkeeper Brandon Bache.
Groocock took the ball himself fired his spot kick into the top left corner to give Ashby the lead in what was a dominant yet frustrating half as the game could have been put to bed before the break.
The hosts could have had the game out of sight before the break. Chances by Ash Garner, Will Robson and Liam Storer were all superbly saved by Bache who put in an inspired display.
Despite his efforts, a more clinical Ashby doubled their lead on the hour mark.
After a sensational piece of skill on the right of the penalty area, Groocock found the feet of his strike partner Teeney, who passed the ball in from close range.
Teeney has two goals from three appearances for his new club, justifying the excitement around his signing from Stapenhill.
Despite creating little chances all evening, Hinckley found a route back into the game 25 minutes from time when Jeremie Agholor was brought down in the box. Lewis Collins converting from 12 yards, despite Tommy Dyche guessing the right way.
Hinckley have had a number of come from behind victories this season and were buoyed by the goal, looking to seize momentum from Ashby.
Refusing to allow the game to escape them, Ashby restored their two-goal advantage through Grouse, who made an explosive run down the right and finished across Bache, who was beaten for a third time.
Ivanhoe's number 10 watched on for much of the match, but reminded everyone why he is one of the top players at this level, with a brilliant solo effort.
''Whether the clientele was different, the players played as we look to play, and that's pleasing for a manager'' said Gray after the match.
His side turn their attention back tom the league on Saturday as high-flying Droitwich Spa come to the NFU Sports Ground.
A win for the visitors could see them climb into the top four.
