Hardware store Ashby Toolbox is moving in to the former Peacocks site in Market Street.

The shop has spent the last five years at Coxon Mews, now it says it has outgrown the premises.

Collapsed fashion chain Peacocks vacated the site last year and it has been empty ever since.

But Ashby Toolbox's move will be welcomed by those who want to see the town centre emerge stronger from the coronavirus lockdown.

Ashby Tool box announced the move on its Facebook page this evening (Friday).

The post reads: "We have loved our last five years on Coxons Mews, but we genuinely ran out of space!

"Thank you to all our customers for your support, we're so excited and can't wait to welcome you all as soon as it's open.

"In the meantime, we'll remain open on Coxons Mews, Monday - Saturday, 9am to 5pm."

A number of other shop spaces in Ashby have been occupied by businesses this year including Indulgent Chocolates on Bath Street and Mmacaron in Market Street.
