Ashby's gyms have expressed their frustration at having to close their doors to members once more.

They had been able to open in Tier 3, but with no classes.

However, with Leicestershire going back into Tier 4, gyms have had to close as they did in the lockdown last Spring.

Hood Park Leisure Centre, Fitness Republic and Bluestone Fitness have all issued messages to members and hope to be able to plan some sort of service until they are given the go-ahead to open again.

Hood Park posted: "We're sorry to hear the latest announcement from Government confirming we will move into tier 4. This unfortunately means we will close until further notice.

"We will be contacting all customers directly to confirm arrangements for their membership and lessons during the closure period.

"We're very saddened by this news and look forward to seeing all our customers again as soon as possible."

Bluestone, in Smisby Road, added: "Following the latest government announcement the gym will be closed until further notice.

"As we're now in tier 4 we'll be reviewing our options closely to see what we can do within the guidelines.

"We'll be freezing all accounts like we have done throughout the pandemic.

"On the up side we're adding more bumper plates to the gym floor & we're continuing to invest in our class studios for when we're given the green light.

"Loads to look forward to even if we have to wait a little longer.

"The Bluestone team want to wish you all a happy new year and we'll see you soon."

Fitness Republic, based in Market Street, have posted a video message on their Facebook page with plans for Zoom and Facebook sessions until they can open again.
