Ashby Fire Crew Helps Tackle 230ft Conveyor Belt Blaze At Coalville Quarry

Fire crews from Ashby and Coalville were called out to a fire at the Cliffe Hill Quarry near Bardon on Monday night.

The blaze was connected to a 70 metre (230ft) stretch of conveyor belt.

But the cause has not yet been discovered.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that the fire was at Cliffe Hill Quarry.

"Upon arrival a conveyer belt was on fire.

 

"A fire investigation is currently underway, we have not yet determined the cause."

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue's Facebook posted photos of the fire with the message: "Red Watch attended a fire at a quarry in Coalville last night alongside Ashby Fire Station and Coalville Station.

"A 70 metre stretch of conveyor belt was well alight on arrival."
