Ashby Fire Station crew attended a traffic accident outside Twycross Zoo yesterday (Wednesday).

The incident involved two cars and left a driver of one of the vehicles trapped.

Ashby crew were joined by Atherstone Fire Station and they worked together to release the driver by removing the roof of the vehicle.

The road remained closed afterwards while the police carried out their investigation into the incident.

It is understood visitors to the zoo had to leave the site via another entrance as access to the A444 was blocked.
