Ashby firefighters were called out to a car fire on the A42 on Tuesday afternoon.

The car was destroyed in the incident which happened near to East Midlands Airport at junction 14.

Ashby fire brigade posted a photo of the burned out wreckage on social media with a warning to motorists.

Police were told they did not need to attend the incident which forced one lane to be coned off.

The hold up caused long tailbacks on the A42 northbound but East Midlands Ambulance Service did not need to attend.

All lanes were reopened at around 3.45pm.
