Ashbeians took to social media yesterday afternoon (Saturday) to let Radio 2 presenter Rylan know about Ashby de la Zouch.

He raised more than a few eyebrows as he attempted to pronounce the name - and then suggested it might be in Germany.

Listeners were quick to take to Twitter to let him know more about the town during his Saturday afternoon show.

"Amazing, @Rylan flummoxed by the place name Ashby-de-la-Zouch - it's near Derby not Germany. Hilarious," said one Twitter user.

Another added: "Rylan trying to say Ashby-de-la-Zouch is giving me LIFE right now. Am completely broken. Rolling on the floor laughing."

"Literally crying at @Rylan pronouncing Ashby-De-La-Zouch as Ashby-De-La-ZOOOOOSH #rylanonsaturday #bbcradio2," said another.

"Rylan, I live in Ashby de la zouch! In a nightclub! It's a fabulous place," added another Twitter user.

And there was more backing for Ashby in this Tweet: "Rylan, Ashby de la Zouch is lovely, the woman from Burton hasn't a clue what Ashby town has other than the big stores. We have are a beautiful historic market town with a #Castle."
