A Birmingham school has delivered over 70 Christmas cards to residents of Ashby Court Care Home in Ashby.

Last month, the home put out a festive plea to the local community to send in messages of goodwill this Christmas.

Ashby-based teacher Luke McNamara responded and got pupils at his school, the Blackwater Academy in Newtown.

The inner city school also donated shortbreads and chocolate.

Luke said: "I saw the article and the students bought into it.

"The students come from range of backgrounds and most have been excluded, so it was really encouraging

"All of the cards were made at Blackwater Academy."
