Ashby councillor speaks in opposition to increased parking costs
By Grace Kennington 23rd Jan 2026
An Ashby Town Councillor and North West Leicestershire District Councillor has spoken openly in opposition to increasing parking charge in Ashby Town Centre.
In an update by Cllr Kenny Horn, he said: 'As advised earlier this week, as the only Ashby member of the governing NWLDC alliance, I strongly opposed the intended parking charge increases in Ashby.
'I spoke with colleagues in Cabinet on Tuesday and I am now please to advise that Cabinet will now propose to freeze charges.
'A comprehensive review of Ashby parking arrangements will take place later this year. The review will work closely with Ashby Town Council and Ashby BID and will explore ways in which to increase usage of the Money Hill Car Park and relieve pressure on the town centre parking.
'The review will also explore a period of free town centre parking similar to that enjoyed by Coalville.'
