Ashby Civic Society has labelled plans for the Money Hill housing development as 'unclear and indefinite'.

The Society's Chairman, Ken Ward, made the comments which will be presented in full on Monday evening at Ashby de la Zouch Town Council's planning committee meeting.

Mr Ward was responding after the site's developers, Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey, held a public consultation in July.

But he says there are more questions than answers - as the plans 'do not give full details of their intentions'.

He says it is 'difficult to respond' to the plan in its current form.

Among the concerns is the predicted traffic flow, which will eventually see thousands of vehicles added to the area's road network.

Mr Ward's comments say: "We have no details of the predicted traffic flow being published.

"There may well be 5,000 additional cars generated by the development. The impact on the Ashby road system will be considerable. We need to see such a study before making any comments on the plan."

He also raised questions about the planned Miller Homes development which, he says, 'makes no sense'.

Mr Ward also describes plans for a community centre as part of phase one, as 'hopeless'.

He added: "We hope that a better plan will be presented in conjunction with Ashby Town Council. No details are currently available, why not?

"Where are the shops/doctors surgery/schools on your plan? Once again you state that you're creating a community. How, without these vital components?

"Why has land across the bypass been shown on the plan as land to be developed? If this is to be left as wild land/natural land why not say so? Do you have any plans for this land? If so tell us."

In conclusion, Mr Ward adds: "It is difficult to respond to a plan that is so fluid and indefinite. It is all very well asking the opinion of the public, but they have to be given full details of your intentions, but they haven't."
