Two Ashby brothers are raffling a £1,000 McLaren Special Edition electric scooter this Christmas - to raise money for the Me&Dee charity.

Harrison and Cyrus Zamani have supported the Melbourne-based charity in the past as it supports families facing short and uncertain futures and gives memory-making experiences to create opportunities for special moments that can be shared with loved ones.

But now they hope to raise even more funds for Me&Dee after being gifted the electric scooter via Adam Norris - father of British F1 star Lando - and Ashby man Colin Muir.

The brothers have set up a JustGiving page which says: "We have been lucky enough to have been gifted a Pure X McLaren scooter by Adam Norris, via Colin Muir who has kindly passed this to us.

"We are now raffling this brand new - this is the preferred ride in the F1 paddock!.

"With every £5 donation you make, we will assign you one ticket - please make sure you include your name with the donation.

"We hope this makes someone smile this Christmas and that we raise as much money as we can for Me&Dee."

The boys' mum Kate told Ashby Nub News: "The boys have been raising money for children's hospitals since they were young.

"This year so far, they've raised £515 for Me&Dee, which will be used to fulfil a wish list for children at Burton Hospital.

"Additionally, they received a special edition McLaren electric scooter worth £1,000 as a donation, which they plan to raffle off to raise more funds.

"The raffle tickets will cost £5 each, with the goal of raising £1,000. The proceeds will benefit Me&Dee, potentially funding two family holidays for families with children who have shorter life expectancies."

Kate explained how the scooter came to be made available for the raffle.

It came via one of the customers at Zamani's restaurant in Ashby which she runs with husband Pejman.

Kate added: "One of our regular customers, Colin Muir, lives in Ashby and works for a bank.

"Adam Norris - Norris' dad, has his business donated the scooter to the banks because they were raising money for charity. Colin won that scooter, and he donated it to the boys as a Christmas gift to say, well done for all of the things that you've done over the years.

"Then the boys talked about it with us, and we thought, it's fantastic, worth about £1,000 pounds and still in the box,

"They've had it because of the charity that work that they do, and this is probably something that could also then raise a lot of money for Me&Dee.

"Probably more than they could raise more money than they have, probably in any year.

"So that's why we've decided to raffle the McLaren scooter.

"Then had a call from Carl Hartley, from Tom Hartley Cars in Ashby and they've got a McLaren in their showroom.

"He invited boys down there and they've put together a video with them to promote the electric scooter and the charity."
