The Bath Grounds in Ashby has been presented with the prestigious Green Flag Award, placing it amongst the county's best parks and green spaces.

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council is celebrating after receiving the award.

The Green Flag Award is the internationally recognised standard for parks and green spaces, with the Bath Grounds being named one of 2,391 in the UK to receive the award this year.

Councillor Chris Smith, Leader of Ashby de la Zouch Town Council, said: 'I am delighted that the Town Council has, once again, been successful in its application to retain a Green Flag Award for the Bath Grounds.

'This year has seen yet more visible improvements to the Bath Grounds, including the planting of a sensory garden near to the South Street entrance to the park.

'Following feedback from a visitor survey, and a grant from the UKSP Fund, lighting along the Heritage Trail is currently being installed, making the park an even safer space for visitors.'
