Ashby Bath Grounds awarded coveted Green Flag Award

Ashby Town Council celebrates the news that the Bath Grounds has been awarded the Green Flag award this year.
This marks the Bath Grounds as one of 2,250 sites in the UK recognised as a quality green space.
Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE said: "Congratulations to everyone involved in the Bath Grounds who have worked tirelessly to ensure that it achieves the high standards required for the Green Flag Award.

"Crucially, the Bath Grounds is a vital green space for communities in Ashby de la Zouch to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis, it is a free and safe space for families to socialise. It also provides important opportunities for local people and visitors to reap the physical and mental health benefits of green space."
Councillor Chris Smith, Leader of Ashby Town Council, said: "I am delighted that the Town Council has, once again, been successful in its application to retain a Green Flag Award for the Bath Grounds. This is a huge achievement for the town and testament to all of the hard work put in by the Town Council's ground maintenance team, the Bath Grounds Advisory Group and many volunteers.
"This year we have continued with our quest to encourage biodiversity, including the planting of 20 semi-mature trees. The circular shrub bed near the South Street entrance was planted with spring flowers – including daffodils, tulips and alliums – which looked stunning and resulted in a flood of complements from visitors. Following the results of our 2024 survey we are currently exploring additional lighting in the Bath Grounds."
