Arrest made after man sustains serious injuries following incident in Ashby town centre

Detectives have arrested a man after a 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries following an assault in Ashby town centre earlier this month.

The victim was assaulted outside Manhattan's Bar in Market Street at around 12.40am on Saturday 9 April by a man who then made off in a black three-door Vauxhall Corsa.

The victim was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham suffering from a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain, he was released from hospital after treatment.

As part of the police's enquiries, a 23-year-old man from Derbyshire has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are still keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or the circumstances leading up to it.

Also, if anyone captured the incident on their mobile phones they are asked to get in touch.
