Ashby's Artisan Market, planned for Saturday, April 16, has been cancelled.

North West Leicestershire District Council, which organises the event, says that will not take place this month 'due to logistics and operational issues'.

No further details have been made public, but the council says that the market will return for its monthly visit to Ashby next month on May 21.

But the council adds on social media: "Don't worry though, there's still plenty to get involved in as there will be a brand new market at Snibston Colliery Park, as well as an Easter Egg Trail to Newmarket Coalville on Saturday, April 16.

"Keep your eyes peeled for more information. Ashby Artisan Market will return as normal on Saturday 21 May."

The Artisan Market first started last July - and was billed as 'a new and exciting market is coming to Ashby every third Saturday of the month.

'Visit food and craft stalls in North Street car park between 9am and 2pm, with the first market taking place on Saturday 17 July.'
