Air Ambulance called to incident involving 'seriously injured' man on A42 north of Ashby
The A42 north of Ashby was closed yesterday evening (Tuesday) when a man was found 'seriously injured' on the side of the road.
Police and an air ambulance were called to the incident at Breedon-on-the-Hill.
But police say enquiries are still ongoing to discover full details of the incident.
Leicestershire Roads Policing Unit tweeted a clip of the air ambulance flying clear of the area and said: "Yesterday evening's joint response to an incident on the A42 led to a complete closure both north and south by ourselves, by North West Leicestershire Police and Highways England to allow Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance to land safely to provide life saving treatment to a casualty. Thank you to everyone for your patience."
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: "Officers were called at 7.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) to the A42 near Breedon on the Hill following a report of a 19-year-old man who was found injured near to the road.
"East Midlands Ambulance Service were in attendance and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"He currently remains in hospital where his condition is described as critical but stable.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
