Ashby de la Zouch Town Council made a slice of local history when held a meeting at the Old School Room in Blackfordby for the first time this week.
The Council's Parks and Cemetery Committee met in the village which is part of the Ashby de la Zouch parish.
And the Leader of Ashby de la Zouch Town Council, Councillor John Coxon, expressed his delight at the change in venue for the meeting which took place on Monday night.
"I am very pleased that the Town Council decided that we would take the Council to Blackfordby for a meeting of the Town Council as the village is in the Ashby de la Zouch parish," said Cllr Coxon.
"This was held at the Old School Room which has gone through a considerable make over with the help of the Town Council by way of a number of grants.
"The Committee of the Old School Room are doing a fantastic job in raising money to renovate this important landmark building within the village.
"For some time now, the Town Council has been building better connectivity with Blackfordby and has provided a number of grants to groups in the village, including Blackfordby Open Gardens, the Wildlife Group and the Events Group.
"It is hoped that further meetings of the Town Council will be held in Blackfordby so that residents would be able to attend meeting in the village without travelling to Ashby."
Katherine Moore, Treasurer of the Blackfordby Old School Room, added: "Everyone connected with the Old School Room is extremely grateful for the on-going financial support of Ashby de la Zouch Town Council towards the continuing programme of improvements we are making to this important local facility.
"We are delighted that we have been able to host a meeting of the Parks & Cemetery Committee of the Town Council for the first time in the village."
