A fifth dog in the group of eight Dachshunds stolen from a kennels near Ashby earlier this year has been found.

But she is said to be 'barely recognisable' after her six month ordeal.

Last week, a fourth one was returned to its owner in Acresford, between Measham and Netherseal.

The dogs were taken by thieves in February and a police appeal was issued.

Now a fourth is back with its owner and Lisa Dean - who runs the 'Eight Stolen Dachshunds' Facebook page - said: "Jess is barely recognisable.

"She has lost so much weight, is very closely shaved, her claws are terribly overgrown and she is absolutely filthy.

"She is now in safe hands with a member of our team, until her mum can get down to collect her.

"Please send your love and well wishes for her family to read.

"They are understandably completely overwhelmed by this last week's turn of events, so please don't expect immediate responses.

"We will have more thank-yous and more info to follow, but for now bear with us whilst we get this little lady home."

Last week, 'Rummy' was found and returned Another dog found as TV appeal is made - meaning three dogs have yet to be found.
