Tucked away in a magical clearing in the forest close to Ashby lies The Glade — a dreamy wedding venue that has quietly become one of South Derbyshire's best-kept secrets. 

And now, thanks to a significant joint investment from South Derbyshire Council and the venue's passionate management team, The Glade is blooming into an even more stunning space for couples to say "I do."

The serene outdoor venue, already known for its natural beauty and peaceful woodland setting, now boasts a brand-new gazebo, officially licensed for wedding ceremonies. 

Couples can now exchange vows surrounded by birdsong and trees, with a picture-perfect canopy above.

"We've always believed in the magic of this place," says a member of the venue team. "This latest investment helps us elevate the experience while keeping that unique, natural charm that makes The Glade so special."

What's New? A forest venue that has grown up beautifully

With recent improvements that include enhanced entrances, detailed groundworks, and a fresh selection of indoor and outdoor furniture designed to blend style and comfort with the venue's organic surroundings. 

A carefully curated cocktail menu has been added to the bar, which is already known for being one of the best-stocked in the region.

And while The Glade includes its own award-winning catering partner - Saffron Catering, known for delivering memorable wedding feasts - couples are also welcome to bring their own caterers, giving them the freedom to shape their day their way.

South Derbyshire District Council has backed The Glade's transformation, seeing its potential not just as a wedding venue, but as a key part of the local economy and tourism landscape.

"The support from the council has allowed us to take our vision to the next level," says the management team. "It's a true collaboration that benefits the venue, couples getting married, and the wider community."

With its whispering trees, secluded charm, and handcrafted touches, The Glade remains a quiet escape from traditional wedding venues. But word is spreading—and fast.

"People who visit often say the same thing: 'Why didn't we know about this place sooner?'" laughed one of the coordinators. "It's like a hidden world."
