The chair of Ashby Netball Club launched 'The Best Netball Podcast Ever!' in September 2025 as fun project has surpassed expectation, reaching over 60,000 downloads in the first year.

Carla Garey, Chair of the Netball club and owner of local business Saffron Catering, launched the podcast independently from the club but the podcast still has close links to the award-winning club.

'It was born out of our shared passion for growing the game, celebrating the people within it and giving netball a bigger voice,' said Carla.

A year on from launching, the podcast has featured some huge names from the world of netball, including England Netball legends Tracey Neville MBE, Ella Clarke MBE and Gary Burgess, as well as current and former international players, Super League athletes, coaches and some of the people working behind the scenes to grow the game.

The podcast now has had over 60,000 downloads, has been listened to in more than 65 different countries and their social media content has generated over 3.2 million interactions in the last month alone.

Just a year after Ashby Netball Club won, the podcast also won the Thriving Collective Award at the England Netball National ONE Awards.

'It feels particularly special to see something else with such strong Ashby roots recognised nationally,' said Carla.

'The podcast is about much more than match results. We talk openly about the people behind the sport, their journeys, the highs and lows, and the issues that matter to the netball community.
