Derbyshire Police have since issued a video of three people they want to speak with in connection with the incident.
But the BBC has reported that one of the dogs has turned up at a vets in Cambridgeshire.
Lisa Dean, from a lost and stolen pet volunteer group called Beauty's Legacy, said a member of the public saw one of the dogs by the roadside in the Huntingdon area of Cambridgeshire yesterday morning (Tuesday).
The female miniature dachshund was taken to the vets where her microchip was scanned and the owner was called at about 08:15.
Ms Dean said the owner was "elated but terrified for the welfare of the other dogs".
The dog had lost a quarter of her body weight in the time she had been missing, Ms Dean added.
Derbyshire Police say they want more information on the three men seen in the CCTV clip.
A police spokesperson said: "They are pedigree show dogs and worth a substantial amount of money.
"The three male and five female dogs, which are all miniature wire-haired dachshunds, were taken from the property at around 11.10pm on Wednesday, February 10.
"The dogs were stolen and officers wish to speak to them, anyone who may have seen them or recognises them.
