Ashby Ivanhoe FC has officially become a Community Interest Company.

The re-constitution of the club was rubber stamped on Monday.

Ivanhoe confirmed their plans in April Ashby Ivanhoe announce club re-structure - and that includes aiming to buy their NFU ground at Lower Packington Road.

Ashby Ivanhoe chairman Stuart Bonser said: "The club has reached many milestones over the years and a reconstitution into a CIC further adds to our quest to continually move the club forward and provide the best experience possible for our growing number of teams, players, parents, spectators, sponsors and volunteers.

"The focus of the business plan is to provide a robust and sustainable football club that widens its reach to the whole community.

"And we have many new initiatives to engage with the community and provide the people of Ashby with a facility that can be accessed by all."

A CIC is a special form of non-charitable limited company which exists primarily to benefit a community with a view to pursuing a social purpose, rather than making a profit.

The initial CIC board has been formed with three directors, Stuart Bonser, Jon Emmerson and Neil Johnson.

The club says their role will be to empower the management team to deliver on the club's objectives as set out in its business plan.

They include; to provide enhanced community football facilities; create a pathway for players; and to generate wider community benefits.
