Event Chef – Full Time (5 days out of 7)
Location: Appleby Magna HQ + venues across the Midlands
Start: Immediate
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We're expanding our team and looking for an Event Chef to join us at Saffron.
This role is split between our HQ kitchen in Swadlincote and working on weddings and events throughout the Midlands.
You'll be part of a passionate, supportive team delivering exceptional food and service at a wide range of occasions.
What we're looking for:
- A dedicated, organised and enthusiastic chef
- Ideally 2+ years' experience in a professional kitchen
- Someone who thrives in a busy event environment
- A full driving licence and access to your own transport (essential)
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering high-quality event catering for weddings and functions across the Midlands
- Supporting and guiding the kitchen team with food preparation, line cooking and plating
- Monitoring and organising stock, ensuring accurate dating and quality assurance
- Maintaining a FIFO rotation system and supporting food ordering and waste reduction
- Ensuring all food preparation and presentation meets our quality standards
- Working closely with the Head Chef to maintain organisation, training and consistency
- Ensuring all food storage, equipment and areas meet required standards
- Assisting in the management of off-site kitchen operations at events
- Maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, safety and cleanliness at all times
- Building strong working relationships across all teams
- Demonstrating a proactive, positive approach and commitment to personal development
- Complying with all company policies, food safety legislation and health & safety requirements
- Setting a strong professional example for junior team members
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Occupational Health & Safety WHMIS / hazardous materials awareness
- Food handling regulations and compliance FIFO food storage procedures
- Sanitation & food safety practices
- High-quality food preparation and presentation
- Menu and resource management
- Allergen legislation Use of wines, spirits and liqueurs in cooking
- Strong communication skills
