Ashby Celebrates Christian Aid's 80th birthday
Ashby Methodist Church, Burton Road
Music
Saturday 7th June

International Development charity Christian Aid has found generous support for most of its history from the community of Ashby de la Zouch. Formed at the end of WWII, the charity's work focussed on refugees to begin with but rapidly developed funding relationships with groups across the newly independent countries of the global South to work on health, agriculture and community projects.
Eighty years later the work continues with renewed emphasis on the impact of climate change, good governance and women's rights. To mark this occasion supporters there will be a concert at Ashby Methodist Church on Saturday 7 June at 7pm. Called 'Notes for a Celebration' the concert features local musicians and will highlight the anniversary and the 80th birthday this year of Mrs Sheila Neate, local resident and indefatigable fundraiser for the charity for over 30 years.
All are welcome
