Ashby hosts its first Pride event on Saturday with a string of entertainment venues across the town taking part.

It is being held on the 51st anniversary of the UK's first Pride event in 1972.

But Ashby Pride gave an outline of what to expect on the day - with the town centre already celebrating with flags and rainbow-decorated shop fronts.

Organisers say: "Ashby pride will take place on Saturday, July 1, beginning at 10am, then continuing throughout the day and into the evening.

"We are so proud that the event will be taking place across different entertainment venues within the town, each hosting their own special Pride themed event.

"Make sure you follow their social media accounts to stay up-to-date.

"Pride is deep-rooted in history as the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and equality."

Events are running throughout the day and finishing at around 3am in nightclub venues.
