The mission to Make Ashby More Fabulous has kicked off with the announcement of The Big Clean Up on Saturday 27th September. 

Organised by Ashby Civic Society with Ashby Town Council, the WI, Love Ashby and other local groups, the Big Clean Up hopes to reinstate local pride by giving Market Street some love. 

'Our first aim is to make it more attractive for both residents and visitors to our great town events by cleaning shop fronts and pavements,' says the organisers. 

'We are asking for volunteers to flood Market Street and thoroughly sweep, weed and litter pick outside all shop fronts and pavements. 

'Retailers are invited to join in and clean their windowsills and base boards. Councillors will also join in, roll their sleeves up and have a bit of fun.' 

The clean-up will be taking place from 9am to 10.30am on Saturday 17th September, with volunteers invited to meet at the WI garden by Paddington at 9am. 

This will be followed by refreshments supplied by Zamani's.
