LOTS OF LAUGHTER IN ASHBY–DE–LA-ZOUCH

Funhouse Comedy Club brings another line-up of top comedians to the Lyric Rooms, Ashby-de-la-Zouch on Thursday 1st June.

The Comedians:

Opening the night will be comedian, actor, writer, BBC Radio presenter and juggler Steve Royle, who came 3rd in the final of Britain's Got Talent 2020 and previously performed as a warm-up act on the Royal Variety performance. 

He spent many years as the court jester at Camelot theme park and has supported Peter Kay and Dave Spikey on tour. 

His TV appearances include 'Phoenix Nights', 'Live at the Palladium' and 'Max & Paddy'. Amusing his audiences with his high energy and distinctive talents, there's something for everyone.

Topping the bill is Dave's Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee 2022 Josh Pugh, who has appeared on 'Hypothetical', 'Mock The Week' and 'Question Team' and supported Joe Lycett on tour. 

Winner of English Comedian of the Year 2016 and Best New Act at Midlands Comedy Awards 2014 and 2016, he has also written for '8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown', 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks', 'Newsjack' and 'The Now Show'. 

With his unusual and original wit he captivates the crowd leaving them wanting for more.

Also appearing will be Eleanor Tiernan who abandoned her civil engineering training to become a stand-up. Hailing from Ireland, she has supported the likes of Stewart Lee and Reginald D Hunter on tour and also appeared in theatre, on TV and Radio. Her observations are both capricious and perceptive and are expressed with a snarl and a smile!

Completing the line-up is is the hilarious half Cockney, half Irish, half charmer, Jake Steers.

Compere for the night will be the cheery and chatty Spiky Mike.

Tickets are £13 in advance.

The one, the only, Katsu Curry: This legend of a dish bought to the fore by wagamama is undoubtably the ultimate japanese comfort food.

What is chicken katsu curry?

A crispy fried cutlet of chicken coated with flaky japanese panko. The curry sauce is made using onions, garlic, and ginger, as well as curry powder, turmeric, chicken stock, coconut milk, soy sauce and sugar.

What does katsu mean in katsu curry?

Katsu () is a shortening of the word katsuretsu () which actually stems from the english word "cutlet".
