The more than 800-year long Ashby Statutes tradition is being kept alive this year despite the cancellation of the popular annual fair due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pat Collins Funfair, North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and Ashby de la Zouch Town Council mutually agreed last month that the event could not safely go ahead on safety grounds.

Ashby residents living with dementia - and their families - are being invited to take part in a relaunched pilot project designed to provide greater support in the home.

Leicestershire County Council in partnership with five district councils - including North West Leicestershire District Council - is looking for around 50 people with dementia from across the county, who live with a family member or an unpaid carer, to help test a new assistive technology system.
