The latest green space and farmland to receive planning permission for warehousing instead of restoration to countryside

Labour councillors are pressing North West Leicestershire District Council to drop highly controversial employment land policies from the Local Plan.

The policies in question provide a loophole which enables developers to build huge new warehouses almost anywhere they like on land designated as countryside, provided it has a reasonable connection to the road network.

Ashby MP Andrew Bridgen joined over 80 parliamentarians in calling for greater support for the aviation, travel and tourism industries following the recent closure of all travel corridors.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Future of Aviation the MP for North West Leicestershire has acknowledged that the latest restrictions were a necessary measure to protect the UK public from the spread of new variants of COVID-19.
