Leicestershire's director of public health has reassured voters that polling stations are safe places to visit, despite the pandemic - with local election day just a week away.

Director of Public Health Mike Sandys has joined with North West Leicestershire District Council's chief executive Bev Smith, Police Area Returning Officer for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, to feature in a short video (see above) showing people exactly what to expect when they go out to cast their vote.

Ashby School students will be able to attend lessons tomorrow (Thursday) – despite a classmate testing positive for coronavirus and between 60-70 pupils sent home.

Because Ashby School has opted to take part in the Daily Contact Testing (DCT) trial, pupils who test negative before lessons start will still be able to learn in school, rather than switching to online learning as before.
