Ashby School has issued a coronavirus update confirming positive tests from a 'small number of students' - and says it has serious consequences as 'between 20 and 60' must self-isolate for 14 days for every case.

Head teacher Geoff Staniforth wrote to parents again this week and says keeping the spread of the virus to a minimum means 'difficult times'.

North West Leicestershire District Council is playing a key role in a new perpetrator programme that tackles domestic abuse.

It is being rolled out across Leicestershire after the county successfully bid for more than £240,000 from the Home Office to expand specialist provision for perpetrators of domestic abuse to help change their violent behaviour.

A public consultation on joint plans to change the age range at schools in the Ashby and Ibstock area have from August 2022 has a month left to run.

They have announced plans to join LiFE Multi Academy Trust (MAT) which would see Ashby School cater for pupils in the 11-18 age range and Ibstock Community College and Ivanhoe College becoming 11-16 secondary schools.
