Three Ashby outlets caught selling alcohol to children during police operation around Market Street

Three Ashby outlets have been caught selling alcohol to children.
An operation was set up by Ashby police recently where on and off-licences were tested to see if under-age alcohol sales were taking place.
Of the eight venues visited, three failed and were dealt with by police.
Representatives of North West Leicestershire Police told councillors about the operation at last month's planning committee meeting.
They were told that the outlets were 'in and around' Market Street - although they were not named.
Cllr Carl Benfield asked if there was a 'three strikes and you're out' approach to dealing with businesses caught selling alcohol to those who are under-age.
He was told that the initial caution would focus on the individual making the sale.
The operation follows a similar police initiative in Coalville last month.
Then, North West Leicestershire Police said: "Those that have breached were spoken to and will be dealt with formally by the police.
"A report of the breaches has also been shared with the licensing team at North West Leicestershire District Council."
In the Coalville case, police acted on information and concerns from the general public.
