What's On in the Ashby de la Zouch area this weekend

This weekend's Ashby events cover a wide range of entertainment and activities - hopefully, there is something for everyone.
Don't forget, you can advertise your event for free at Ashby Nub News - and reach thousands of our readers by doing so.
Whether it is a gig, a comedy night, a pub quiz or maybe your monthly society meeting, just fill in the form HERE and we will list it for you in our What's On section - or click on the Add Your Event button.
Funhouse Comedy Club brings a Super Gong Competition to the Lyric Rooms on Friday.
Ten of the best rising stars on the circuit go head-to-head for a £100 prize, but after they have been on stage, five audience judges with red and green cards decide whether they stay or go!
If they survive 10 minutes, then they make it to the final at the end of the night, where each finalist does another 60 seconds before the whole audience picks a winner.
It's a highly entertaining show. Acts including Josh Pugh and Scott Bennett played their first ever gigs on one of these nights and a previous winner was James Acaster, so you could well be seeing a future superstar.

Paddington Bear is a regular attraction in Ashby town centre these days. But what about the film that allowed him make his home here?
Ashby Film Nights is showing Paddington in Peru at Ashby School next Wednesday.
Paddington - voiced as usual by Ben Whishaw - receives a letter from a nun who runs the Home for Retired Bears, in Peru, where his Aunt Lucy is passing her twilight years.
The nun is a hearty, acoustic guitar-strumming character played joyously by Olivia Colman.
The letter says that his aunt is behaving strangely and then she goes missing. The Brown family and Paddington then set off on an adventure in the jungle with the usual Paddington chaos!
