A group has been formed to try and secure the long-term future of St Margaret's Church in Blackfordby.

Almost two years ago, the 11th church suffered badly when Storm Ciara struck the UK Vicar says he was dumbstruck by Blackfordby church damage.

An area around the building had to be cordoned off and the primary school next door closed after the gable end crumbled and fell off during the extreme conditions.

Six months later, the church was facing a £300,000 bill following an update on the state of the church revealing it was in 'very poor order' and a plan was being produced 'for the building's survival'.

Plan is drawn up for Blackfordby church survival.

Now a 'Save Blackfordby Church' group has been formed to try to make sure the building is maintained.

A social media post says: "We have recently formed a small working group with a very simple mission - save our church!

"Our group, Friends of St Margaret of Antioch Blackfordby, will keep you updated.

"We have formed an action plan to drive us for the next three months.

"In the coming weeks, we will be arranging a meeting at Blackfordby Village Hall for residents, for which invitations will be sent accordingly.

"In the meantime, if you have any questions, or would like to join us, you can message us via Facebook.

"We are sure that you will agree that long-term future of such an historic and iconic building, and important place of worship, must be secured."
